This year we have brought together a unique group of talented and insightful people to keynote at ECSCW. Our aim is to help you think in new ways about how we can make a real and sustained difference in the world.

Dr. Geraldine Fitzpatrick
Geraldine was Professor of Technology Design and Assessment and led the Human Computer Interaction Group in the Informatics Faculty at TU Wien until end Sept 2023. She is an awarded researcher, teacher and leader, with international experience in academia, industry and healthcare, building on a PhD in CS&EE (Uni of Queensland) and an MSc in Applied Positive/Coaching Psychology (UEL). She is passionate about developing future academic leaders and crafting more collegial sustainable research cultures.

Shaun Hazeldine
Shaun is an international development and humanitarian professional with 25+ years’ experience in a variety of leadership roles in diverse contexts and currently leads the IFRC’s Solferino Academy. His has a specialised focus on strategy, innovation, collaboration, strategic foresight, change and transformation. He is passionate about contributing to the design of new approaches and transforming systems that help organisations support the aspirations of communities and be more fit for the future.

Dr. Jacki O’Neill
Jacki is founding Lab Director of Microsoft Research Africa, Nairobi. She is passionate about designing technologies which enhance agency, improve working life and contribute to sustainable futures. She brings this passion to Microsoft Research Africa where she leads a multi-disciplinary team, combining research, engineering and design to solve local problems globally.
The EUSSET Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work is an international venue on practice-centred computing and the design of cooperation technologies. It is a series of conferences on computer-supported cooperative work that was established in 1989.
The 23rd edition of ECSCW will take place in Newcastle upon Tyne from June 30th to July 4th, 2025.
ECSCW is a single-track conference that contributes to developing an interdisciplinary and global community, supported by EUSSET, the European Society for Socially Embedded Technologies. The conference format facilitates critical discussion across disciplinary and national borders in the field. An overview of earlier ECSCW conferences (and proceedings) is available here.
