Venue and Accomodation
ECSCW 2025 will be held at the Event Space at The Urban Sciences Building (often referred to as the USB) situated at the heart of Newcastle Helix – an initiative between Newcastle University and Newcastle City Council which brings together academics, the public sector, communities and business.
Just a stone’s throw from the iconic St James’ Park, right in the heart of the beautiful Newcastle upon Tyne, it is a vibrant, spacious and fully accessible building within walking distance from Newcastle Train Station, St James’ Park Metro Station and bus services from Haymarket Bus Station.
Situated in central Newcastle, the venue is well served by nearby hotels:
- Sandman Signature Hotel Newcastle: This is the closest hotel to the venue (approx. 2 minutes walk from the USB and opposite St James’ Park) and has some excellent reviews.
- Holiday Inn Express Newcastle: 5 minutes from the venue, situated between Newcastle Train Station and Newcastle Helix.
- County Hotel & County Aparthotel Newcastle: directly opposite the railway station with a range of accommodation options.
- Royal Station Hotel Newcastle: also directly next to the station and a 10-minute walk from the venue.
- Hampton by Hilton Newcastle: a convenient location just across the road from the train station
- Motel One Newcastle: situated on Highbridge, a great city location.
Alternatively, the historic Quayside along the River Tyne is a beautiful spot to stay, with views of the Newcastle Bridges (including and alongside top cultural venues Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and The Glasshouse International Centre for Music (formally the Sage).
